MOVIE RATINGS
The Films, Videos and Publications Act requires all films for public exhibition to be classified. The classifications listed may sometimes have a cautionary note attached beside them.
E (Exempt)
These films are for general viewing. However, G does not conclusively mean a children’s film because many of these productions contain content that would be of no interest to children.
These films contain material that a parent might need to explain to younger children.
The content is mild.
The content is moderate.
Restricted to audiences of 13, 16, 18 years or over unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. A guardian is considered to be a responsible adult (18 years and over), for example, a family member or teacher who can provide guidance. It is illegal to show the film to people below the age shown on the label.
Restricted to audiences of 13, 15, 16, 18 years or over. It is illegal to show the film to people below the age shown on the label.
